Understanding how our mobile services work helps you get the most from your plan while avoiding unexpected charges.

What Is a Fair Usage Policy?

Our mobile tariffs are designed for normal business and personal use. Fair usage policies help ensure network resources remain available and reliable for all customers.

Usage may be reviewed if it falls outside what would typically be considered reasonable use. This includes activity that could impact network performance, breach network terms or be considered abusive.

Unlimited Data Explained

• Where a tariff includes unlimited data, minutes or texts, these allowances are intended for standard smartphone use.
• Examples of usage that may be considered excessive include:
• Repeatedly using unusually large amounts of data.
• Regular tethering to a high number of devices.
• Automated, machine-generated or bulk traffic.
• Activity that affects network performance or other users.
• If unusual usage patterns are identified, additional checks may be carried out and restrictions may apply.
  
  We may investigate usage in order to ascertain whether your unlimited usage is in line with these guidelines. In the event inappropriate usage is determined then we reserve the right to restrict services, adjust the plan or terminate the agreement based on the severity of the misuse.

Gateways/Artificially Inflated Traffic (AIT)

Our mobile services must not be used in equipment that routes calls, text messages, picture messages or data between fixed and mobile networks. This includes systems designed to generate or redirect traffic through mobile connections.

The use of equipment or services that enable bulk SMS, voice or data transmissions is also prohibited.

Where we believe a service is being used in breach of these conditions, we reserve the right to suspend the connection without prior notice. During any suspension period, charges incurred on the account will remain the responsibility of the account holder. 

Roaming

We have introduced a Fair Usage Policy to ensure end user allowances are being used for purpose whilst roaming.

Policy Terms

Inclusive roaming services on our mobile tariffs have been built for business users who travel periodically, and not those who roam across foreign networks on a semi-permanent or permanent basis.

If a customer uses their mobile in destinations outside the UK that qualify for inclusive access to standard bundles (this includes those countries that qualify for daily roaming services such as World Travel Select and/or legislation such as Roam Like At Home), and they have spent more time abroad than at home with their roaming use exceeding their domestic use, we will consider them a permanent roamer and charges will apply in line with our standard roaming out of bundle costs. Please be aware that roaming activity will continue to be measured over a four-month period.

Please note, HardSoft reserves the right to disconnect subscriptions and apply a standard £30 cease fee per subscription where services are terminated due to a breach of the applicable usage policies.

Roaming Allowances

Customers travelling in eligible destinations can continue to use their included allowances in accordance with the applicable roaming service and fair usage policy. Roaming availability, destinations and charges may vary depending on the network selected. 

A roaming data fair usage allowance of 25GB per billing period applies when using eligible roaming services. 

Once this allowance has been exceeded:

• O2 and Vodafone customers will be charged £2.00 per GB.
• EE customers will be charged at the applicable out-of-bundle roaming rates.

For destination-specific information, roaming zones and applicable charges, customers should refer to the relevant network roaming documentation.

Our tariffs are subject to change. HardSoft will ensure at least 30 days’ notice is given before any changes take effect.
