HardSoft Donates 30 Refurbished Laptops to Harlow School
HardSoft is a UK B2B computer reseller and device lifecycle business with a reuse-first approach: suitable traded-in devices are assessed, securely wiped, refurbished and redeployed for social benefit wherever possible.
In summer 2026, we received traded-in laptops from a local independent school. Rather than routing them straight to recycling or disposal, we refurbished them for reuse — and donated 30 to Hare Street Community Primary School in Harlow, free of charge.
Supporting pupils, SEN and digital access
The donated laptops will help the school improve access to technology for pupils — including children with Special Educational Needs and those in intervention groups.
Mark Grant, Acting Head at Hare Street School, said:
“As a school, we are often falling short of reliable laptops due to age, cost etc. This donation will be a welcome addition to our emerging AI curriculum and can be used to support our SEN children in intervention groups.”
Backing the IT Reuse for Good Charter
This donation supports the aims of the IT Reuse for Good Charter, which asks UK organisations to take a reuse-first approach to IT assets such as laptops and smartphones.
The Charter’s principles are simple: devices should be securely wiped, refurbished to a good standard, fit for purpose, and provided free of charge to digitally excluded people and families in the UK.
Extending device life, closing the digital gap
This project shows how HardSoft takes traded-in technology from business and education customers, extends its useful life through refurbishment, and gets it to children and families who might otherwise face barriers to digital access.
We plan to keep developing this model — finding more opportunities to refurbish suitable traded-in devices and donate them to schools, charities and community organisations. It’s a mission we share with the Digital Poverty Alliance, the UK’s leading charity working to close the digital divide.
