Last year Microsoft decided to offer the Microsoft Surface computers on a subscription style basis for business users. They have called it Surface as a Service and have made a good attempt at getting their deal as good as ours… sort of. Surface as a Service enables business customers to pay monthly to lease for Surface devices, accessories, software, services, and support. Microsoft partners who are Surface Authorised are able to sell Surface as a Service; it’s not available directly from Microsoft.

How does Surface as a Service Work?

Businesses can choose from 12, 24, or 36 month contracts for a mixture of devices and software in one lease. All leases offered must contain Office 365, a Surface and accessories to qualify. Microsoft are selling the benefits as getting the latest hardware and refreshing more regularly… hmmm, where hMS-Surface-USPsave we heard that before? (If you are not sure, refer to the HardSoft Website and all of our blogs). It is no wonder, with the Surface generating $1 billion revenue per month for Microsoft, but with prices ranging from £720 to a staggering £2199 spreading the cost can only help to sell more of them. The support option offered will, I assume, be coming straight from the reseller so will vary wildly between companies.

Surface as a service microsoft guideIt is very difficult to find out the pricing involved with Surface as a Service as each reseller will no doubt add their own spin to the mix. It is down to the reseller to make their own pricing options, although the customer will be able to trade in and sell back though Ingram Micro. This all sounds great, however I cannot seem to find any prices out there easily available online.
