With the inaugural Broadcast and Video Exhibition North now over; it’s a great time to reflect on what the HardSoft lease team experienced. Being only a stone’s throw away from the new BBC funded MediaCityUK; there was a natural buzz around the Manchester show. HardSoft’s stand was opposite JVC and offered Apple Mac, JVC and Storage leasing from promise and Sonnett.
The star of the show for HardSoft was undoubtedly the JVC Pro GY-HM750 ProHD Camcorder. Offering both native support for Final Cut Pro in HD and SD as well as simultaneous recording to two SDHC memory cards for either almost unlimited shooting or backups/duplicates; the features are impressive. Coupled with a free iPad 2 (until 16th December) it is not hard to see why there was plenty of interest in it.
The other hot topic was Avid debuting their new Media Composer 6 and Pro Tools 10 Software. With a new fully 64 bit architecture, the bar is raised for performance. For Apple/Mac users one of the key upgrades is the ProRes import and export which essentially allows users to fit Media Composer into their Final Cut Pro workflow. This of course makes a Mac Pro running Media Composer 6 and Final Cut Pro X all the more attractive.
Finally the show gave users the chance to see what is new on the market to compete with the Promise Pegasus RAID Thunderbolt storage; and found the Pegasus to be far ahead in its price range. With both the 4 bay (R4) and 6 bay (R6) offering between 4TB to 12TB raw capacity at a blistering two channels of 10GB/s (1.25GB/s) per port of performance, there was nothing that could even come close.
The HardSoft team are eagerly looking forward to BVE 2012 at Earls Court on the 14th-16th of February where will be offering our range of flexible leasing solutions for these and many more . HardSoft are Authorised Apple Reseller and all two and three leases include full warranty and support.
