I have just gone through the most amazing change to my families IT that I thought my companies blog is the perfect way to express how fantastic the change, at home, has been from a Windows PC to an  Apple Mac. 

As a Director at Hardsoft Computers (we lease computers to business users)  I have been involved in the IT industry for over 25 years. To show my age I was there selling Amstrad green screen PCW machines and the first PC with a 10MB hard drive, yes Megabytes, and involved in selling, installing and setting up PC’s and PC networks along the way.

At home I have gone from MS-DOS to Windows, through the millennium scare of Windows 98 when nothing happened and onto such great Microsoft products as Vista and now have been quite happily surfing, emailing, VPN’ing and collecting the family photos on Windows 7.

However as a company, Hardsoft have also become Apple Approved Reseller in the last few years and have found a whole new marketplace for computer leasing. Our household is full of both PC’s, HP laptops plus Apple iPhones, iTouches and of course several of  The new iPad

So boyed by the Olympic year and the spirit of bringing myself upto date, I took home a new Apple iMac only 10 days ago……. and WOW …..  this thing is amazing, the screen quality, the boot up speed, the cordless keyboard and mouse and it looks great in my kitchen- now sitting pride of place.

But that’s just the start, after a couple of days of tinkering, myself and my 10 year old son went to two online tutorials for iMovie and iPhoto at the Apple Store.  After 20 years of PC’s I have never known what to do with my images and movie clips, after a 10 minute online tutorial I am now making family montages and photo books-  I can’t begin tell you the amount of brownie points I have earnt in the last week.

The family is now glued to our nice new Apple iMac every night waiting to be amazed with the family movies we are about to watch – it’s popcorn all round!

I still like my PC’s and for work its great but its true what they say about these Apple Macs – Once you go Mac, you don’t go back!
